ESAA is a non-profit corporation consisting of a growing body of industry stakeholders interested in revitalizing the Marquis Downs site to support the growth and prosperity of equine sports and agriculture from this hub in Saskatoon.
Our collaborative approach to facilitating equine sports and other agricultural events at the location provides opportunities for membership-based horse organizations, sports organizations, businesses, stakeholders and even individuals to benefit from the use of the facility. From offering space, equipment, business opportunities, educational programs or, in some circumstances, revenue sharing, we can actively contribute to the health and wellbeing of everyone involved.
We will take every necessary step to ensure that our initiative is heard by the City of Saskatoon and Prairieland Park. To be successful, we must demonstrate just how important this facility is for the residents of Saskatoon and beyond. Please see our “Support” page to find out how you can help us turn this vision into a reality.
There are a few different actions that you could take to support our cause. The first is to email your City Councillor (Saskatoon residents only). The second is to sign our petition. The third is to email your MLA. All of these actions have a great impact, and we appreciate any support of our endeavour that you wish to provide.
You may also wish to share this initiative with friends, family, or other organizations who could benefit from our plans.
We will be approaching the City in the New Year to formally request control of the agricultural half of Prairieland Park’s leased property.
The City of Saskatoon owns the land at 503 Ruth Street W. The land is leased to Saskatoon Prairieland Park Corporation. Under the terms of the lease, Prairieland is required to keep the property in good condition and useable for its original purpose; failing to do so could be seen as default of the provisions of the lease. We are asking the City to inspect the property, take back that half of the land, and grant it to ESAA to ensure its safekeeping. We have started a petition for this: you can sign it here.
ESAA’s goal is operational in nature. It does not intend to be the voice for equine sports outside of the facility; instead, we wish to operate a centralized hub for the benefit of the equine community.
